Our Expansion History

Over the last 154 years, Black Rock Congregational Church has sought to "know Jesus Christ and make Him known" by prayerfully seeking God's challenge of impacting souls locally and globally. Empowered by God, Black Rock has built a Christian base in southwestern Connecticut that supports dozens of ministries reaching those in our community and around the world. Through His timing and generous provision, God has opened doors to ministry expansion throughout our history as a church, and He has given direction and confirmation at each stage of our growth. Presently, it appears that God has opened yet another door for expansion. After 30 years of faithful prayer for land adjacent to our current site, land has become available. Once again we feel called to expand, and we prayerfully seek God's will as He continues to use us to further His Kingdom.

A Pastor Allaby sermon in 1966 reinforced a lesson that the Congregation was being taught about God’s Will:

“Only He, not we, could build a Church. Only He knew the style and location that would be best for us. It was up to us to have faith and trust in God knowing that His plans and His timetable were perfect.”
