Dear Friends of Black Rock Congregational Church,
After Jesus died for us on the cross, His tomb was sealed with a stone.
When Jesus emerged alive on the third day, that stone was divinely rolled away and, in a sense, cast into the pool of eternity, resulting in a never-ending ripple effect that transforms every life it touches. This same Jesus told His followers in John 14:12,
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."
The fulfillment of these words began with those first Christ-followers who saw Jesus ascend to heaven. Directed and empowered by God, these disciples began throwing their own life-pebbles into that same pool of eternity, and, as they did, they made ripples that changed the course of history, the eternal destination of millions, and even our lives today.
Now, we at Black Rock Congregational Church have a similar opportunity to follow Jesus to "even greater things." Building on and inspired by the faithfulness of our predecessors, we embark on a ministry expansion project, which will greatly increase our ripple effect, reaching souls near and far for God's glory.
Simply put, our ultimate purpose of our ministry expansion is the same as our overall purpose as a church, "To know Jesus Christ and make Him known." This expansion will allow us to reach more people with the love of Jesus, who in turn will reach more people with the love of Jesus, who will themselves reach more people with the love of Jesus. Empowered by His Spirit, God will use us as the epicenter of a ripple effect that will make a big difference in our community, our New England/metro New York region, our nation, and our world.
There is nothing more exciting than being a part of God's plan! I want the pebble of my life to make an eternal difference for God's glory, and I know you do too. So I'm ready. I'm ready to use my black rock to make some ripples! How about you?
